Photochromic Lenses

Photochromic lens technology has been around for over 40 years.  Photochromic lenses change from clear to dark based on the intensity of the sun's ultraviolet radiation.  When removed from the sun's ultraviolet radiation the lenses return to their clear state.

The amount of photochromic reaction, or how much a lens will darken, depends upon the intensity of the ultraviolet radiation present.  Photochromic lenses will adjust automatically to the indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. When outdoors and exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays, this type of lens will change automatically by providing the right level of tint, and then automatically return to a clear state when indoors and at night.
